Dota 2 shards

Valve has allowed Dota 2 players to buy back old Quartero's Curios rewards using Dota Plus shards, but 1,000 points will cost 10,000 shards.

Data miner and analyst Fay pointed out the strange exchange rate.

“You can buy old Qwertero Curios — 1 level costs 10,000 Dota Plus shards.

So according to Valve’s logic, a player who doesn’t play a lot and couldn’t get all the curios is somehow supposed to, WITHOUT PLAYING MUCH, farm that many shards. And even if you do play a lot, it’s still hard to do”

He explained that along with the launch of the new event, a buyback feature for previous Quartero's Curios rewards has appeared. However the exchange rate looks extremely strange, since farming that many shards requires even more effort than simply participating in the event itself.

Fay showed that 50,000 XP would cost half a million shards which practically destroys the value of this function. The issue is that even long-time players who have been collecting shards for years often don’t accumulate such enormous amounts of Dota Plus currency.

It’s possible that after criticism from the community, the developers may adjust the exchange rate to make it more reasonable for players who can’t farm heavily.
