A Team Spirit analyst has discovered a secret event featuring a new hero in Dota 2

Mark “Sikle” Lerman stated that the Frogling is actually part of a mini–event in Dota 2, connected with the new hero Bard-Frog, and the event itself is triggered by a secret condition near the lotus fountains in the game.

The Team Spirit analyst reported this in his Telegram channel.

“The little frog is a part of the hero (Frog-Bard Largo) and at the same time a community-event. My personal opinion.

The frogs have 50 animations, which is a lot for a simple ‘pet’ — these animations use 3 different directions, and some of them even have the tag ‘ult’. Most likely the froglets are summoned exactly by the hero’s ultimate, with different or switchable bonuses depending on the instrument in their hands: fan, maracas, drum sticks”

According to him, the Frogling is not just a pet or some random NPC, but actually the ultimate ability of the upcoming hero. He explained that the frog can be summoned even without console commands, but to do so you must complete a special requirement connected with the lotus flowers.

“It’s a community event, because you can already find the frog in your matches. It spawns under some condition on one of the lotuses. You can ‘pick it up’, and after that the frog will follow you until an enemy kills you and takes it for himself. I haven’t yet figured out what exactly the condition is and what to do next”

He said that similar events existed in the first Dota, where heroes that were not yet playable appeared this way. Sikle believes that the froglet is both a mini-event inside the match and a part of the new hero Bard-Frog Largo.

“Same mini-events were in the first Dota with MK, Phoenix and Invoker, when they were not heroes yet. I still remember running with a Dagon and Gem searching for invisible frogs. In Dota 2 there were such events again with MK and with Muerta, the Primal roar thing was also there. And the hero usually released pretty fast after such discoveries”

He added, that it’s not uncommon that a new hero appears shortly after such secret findings in the game. The analyst noted that this already happened before, so expecting the release of a new hero might not take too long.
