Ilya "Yatoro" Mulyarchuk, the carry player of
Team Spirit, admitted that players didn't receive the entire prize money from The International 2023. He had to pay 19% of his winnings as taxes.
This confession was made by the Dota 2 world champion during a Twitch stream.
According to the esports athlete's words, the players had to part with a significant amount of money after winning TI12. If we do simple calculations,
Team Spirit won The International 2023 and received 45% of the total prize pool, which was $1,521,362.
If we don't consider the percentage that the organization takes, then each player of the roster should have received around $304,272. However, after deducting the mentioned 19%, which Yatoro talked about, the world champion had to pay approximately $57,811 in taxes from his winnings.
Based on these calculations,
Team Spirit earned $1,232,303 after taxes for winning the Dota 2 World Championship.
It's worth mentioning that Yatoro previously made a statement about
Team Falcons incredible success this season.
