Ilya "Yatoro" Mulyarchuk, the carry player for
Team Spirit, shared his thoughts on
Drow Ranger and explained why he doesn't pick this hero for professional play.
During a Twitch stream with Max "qojqva" Brocker, the player stated that despite
Drow Ranger popularity in pubs, he considers her weak for professional tournaments.
He explained that the hero has only 1000 HP throughout the game, making her vulnerable to stuns and enemy attacks. To survive,
Drow Ranger relies on several defensive items such as Manta, Pike, Aghanim's Scepter, and BKB, which, according to Yatoro, makes her too dependent on items.
"By the 20-minute mark, I'll have Manta and Dragonlance, while Morphling will have Manta and Butterfly. He'll just crush me," Yatoro said, emphasizing that even with the accuracy improvement from her Shard, Drow Ranger stands no chance against certain heroes like Morphling”
Yatoro also mentioned that he played
Drow Ranger before returning to
Team Spirit, winning 90 out of 100 matches, but still considers her a poor choice for professional play.
"You can't play her in pro matches because opponents love to chase you down"
Thus, despite her strength in Dota 2 matchmaking, Yatoro believes
Drow Ranger isn't suited for top-tier tournament play.
