One of the creators of Counter-Strike, Min “Gooseman” Lee, apologized for the situation around a memecoin that was launched using his name and said he will spend the received money on charity.

The developer published a video where he explained the details of the story and admited that he made a mistake.

According to Lee, he received about $11k for taking part in promotion of the cryptocurrency. After a lot of criticism towards him, he said that he really made a mistake by being tempted by the money, and he will spend all the money on charity.

The idea to create the token appeared on March 3. A user with the nickname Momo suggested launching a memecoin to “support Gooseman financially”, saying that Valve supposedly didn’t reward him enough for his contribution to creating Counter-Strike. Lee agreed to the idea, but only on the condition that he would not manage the project or own the currency.

After reaching the agreement, the developer received $11k. He admitted that he did not refuse the money, because he saw it as a kind of support from people who appreciate his work.

However, after information about the token appeared, part of the community strongly criticized Gooseman. On X some users accused the game designer of being involved in a possible scam. To fix the situation, Gooseman started buying back the issued memecoins. According to him, he is ready to spend about $35k on this.
