Valve removed an important command from CS2: what happened

Valve decided to remove the command pickup_groundweapon from CS2 to fix a bug that allowed players to pick up grenades during matches.

The change came after the update.

It took the developers 8 days to fix an exploit that let players pick up grenades from anywhere on the map. Instead of taking a complex approach involving access rights and other technical attributes, they chose to remove the command from CS2.

The decision proved effective and finally closed the vulnerability, which had been significantly ruining matchmaking for many players.
