Valve said that they will not issue licenses for tournaments in CS:GO, despite the huge popularity of this version of the game.

This was reported in a comment to the Dust2.us portal.

It is noted that the developers did not reveal the exact reasons for this decision, even though CS:GO managed to reach the mark of 60 thousand players in Steam almost immediately after its separate release on the platform. Many fans are surprised by this decision, considering that the company still gives licenses for outdated versions like Counter-Strike 1.6 and Counter-Strike: Source.

Fans are confused about what exactly prevents tournaments from being held in this version of the game, because it still has a stable fanbase. However, the reason may be that Valve does not want to split the CS2 audience, and also does not want to be involved in tournaments for games that they no longer support.

It should be remembered that earlier CS:GO suddenly appeared again on Steam as a separate version from CS2, which made thousands of fans happy.
