Valve has called The International 2024 historic: this is happening for the first time in 13 years

Valve have described The International 2024 as historic, as this is the first time in 13 years that the Dota 2 World Championship is being held in Europe with a live audience.

The organizers shared this in a welcome letter to the participants of TI13, which was posted on Reddit.

“This is the first The International in Europe with a live audience since the very first event in Cologne in 2011. You are now part of a tradition that spans over a decade. You have already achieved something rare and incredible, and in the next two weeks, a new champion will lift the Aegis”

Valve emphasized that this is indeed a historic event for Dota 2 and esports. It was likely also a hint that the main part of the tournament will offer an unforgettable spectacle this year, possibly featuring the Ringmaster and the newly nuanced hero Bird Samurai.
