Ember Spirit Dota 2 Patch 7.37b

Valve has been approached regarding the critical nerf of Ember Spirit in patch 7.37b, which has made the hero extremely uninteresting to play and weak in Dota 2 matchmaking.

The corresponding appeal to the developers was posted on Reddit.

"Please, just adjust his damage numbers instead of making his gameplay unpleasant.

I’ve had this discussion so many times with other Ember players, and it’s discussed in almost every Ember-related comment section. It always boils down to the exact same conclusion: if you think Ember is too strong in the current patch, just adjust his damage numbers. While it’s unfortunate for us, it is quite fair if his winrate is high.

What everyone hates and has been complaining about for quite a while now are the weird cast point additions that make him feel sluggish. You might think it makes him easier to ‘catch,’ but it really doesn’t make a big difference in that regard. It just feels unnatural for the Ember player while not making a huge difference for the enemy team"

The post author, under the username MegamanExecute, noted that while lowering Ember Spirit damage is fair, considering how strong he was in matchmaking, the increase in cooldown times has significantly negatively impacted the hero.

"Even in today’s patch, his innate damage was nerfed, which is fair enough; he was winning too much, and this was expected. What’s NOT cool is messing up the cooldown on SoF. You can do whatever to the early levels, but giving SoF a 7-second cooldown is too much. He had a 6-second cooldown since his introduction in the original Dota.

This is why I’m finally making this post despite all the nerfs he’s endured in recent patches; Valve keeps taking his signature smooth gameplay and fun away from him little by little, making him slower and clunkier with each patch"

The player noted that there are also some positive changes that are hard to call nerfs, which have positively impacted the hero’s balance, but overall, Ember Spirit situation is critical, as reflected in the sharp decline in his winrate.

"The only good ‘balance’ change he’s gotten was making SoF hit for 0.25 seconds each. That’s the only change I believe is a perfect balance between nerf and buff; it makes him easier to catch with spells like Ice Path, hex, etc., but also simplifies things like SoF-chaining in fog.

In short: Please give him back his instant cast points and adjust his damage numbers if you think Ember is too strong. I’m not even touching on the atrocious changes to his mana costs and laughable mana pool to keep the post shorter"

Players were particularly frustrated by the changes to mana costs, which made playing the hero extremely difficult due to the low resource pool. Therefore, users in the comments supported the player's appeal to Valve and asked for a review of the Ember Spirit adjustments.

Recall that earlier Valve critically nerfed two of the strongest heroes in Dota 2 in patch 7.37b, which significantly altered the game's meta.
