Neta "33" Shapira, the captain of
Tundra Esports, pointed out that their victory over
Team Falcons in the grand final of BLAST Slam 4 was mostly luck, and everything was decided by a coin flip that determined the first pick on the deciding map.
The two-time Dota 2 world champion talked about this during the post-match interview.
"Something is wrong with the coin flip system in bo5. Falcons won the first coin toss and picked FP, in the second one we picked first because we realized it gives advantage. And if we had won the first, they would’ve done the same. That’s how it went the whole series. On the fifth map they lost the flip and gave away the advantage. We had the first pick — and it was just another coin flip. I’d say we won because we got lucky on the first and the last coin toss, when we got FP"
The captain explained that basically the whole series came down to luck — the team with the first pick was the one winning. 33 noted that literally everything was decided by the coin flip moments on the first and fifth games, and he didn’t ruled out that it could have been
Team Falcons winning if they were a bit luckier.
33 also mentioned a lucky neutral drop for himself — he got Pyrrhic Cloak, which allowed him to destroy several enemy heroes. The player even joked that
Team Falcons were defeated not by
Tundra Esports, but by pure random.
