Alexander ‘TORONTOTOKYO’ Hertek has admitted that
BetBoom Team were on the verge of crashing out of the second group stage of the Riyadh Masters 2024, as the team started the tournament with a poor hero pool and players had problems understanding draft lineups.
BetBoom Team's support shared his opinion in an interview on the Twitch channel of Riyadh Masters 2024 organisers.
‘It was a good adventure. Especially considering we didn't even realise our draft picks in the group stage. After the groups, we found our drafts, our characters. Some characters we didn't have in the pool, but we realised what we wanted to play and who was strong right now. It was fun to play, but unfortunately we realised everything too late, so we started the playoffs from the bottom set. Sometimes you can lose like that.
I would say that we've always had a tough group stage, but even so we had enough to get out of the group and into the top set. However, at this tournament we had a very bad hero pool at the start, so this group stage was much harder and we might not even make the playoffs.’
BetBoom Team made it to the bottom set of the tournament's playoffs after finishing in the last passing place in the group with three losses, three draws and one win. During the playoffs, the team was able to win two matches against
Entity and
WBG.XG. The team reached the quarter-finals of the lower grid, from where they were knocked out by
Tundra Esports, beating
BetBoom Team with a score of 2 : 1.
Earlier, streamer Alexander ‘Nix’ Levin criticised
BetBoom Team's carry Egor ‘Nightfall’ Grigorenko.
