Duncan “Thorin” Shields believes that
Team Spirit’s current CS2 victories are due to their opponents’ low level of preparation.
The analyst shared this opinion on YouTube.
“Spirit has some kind of incredible winning streak on Ancient—13 or 14 matches in a row. Until recently, they didn’t even pick that map. It’s a coincidence, since other teams are the ones picking Ancient against them. NAVI, Falcons, G2… They play that map very poorly.
I believe Spirit’s map pool is massively overrated. It’s all complete nonsense. The BLAST Open Fall was nonsense. You’ll never see anything like that again. Maybe once every 8–9 tournaments, when all of Spirit’s players simultaneously have the tournament of their lives. You won’t see that at a Major.
You’re wrong if you think Spirit is good. And if you think they’re in a golden age right now—you’re just out of your mind. Or you just know how to generate hype on social media. Spirit is overrated. They’ll never pull this off again.”
Acording to Duncan “Thorin” Shields, the team has a fairly weak map pool, and
Team Spirit’s achievements are overrated by fans. The analyst didn’t believe the team would be able to win frequently, especially at Majors. Nevertheless, Thorin doesn’t rule out the possibility that the team might still win from time to time when all the players are in top form.
As a reminder, Danil “Donk” Kryshkovets previously spoke out after
Team Spirit’s victory at BLAST Premier: Open Fall 2026.
