If Valve releases the 2025 Compendium two weeks before the start of The International 2025, the tournament's prize pool could amount to around $2.8 million.
How The International 2025 Prize Pool Is Formed
The prize pool for The International is made up of a base amount provided by Valve — traditionally $1.6 million. It then grows thanks to 25% of the revenue from Compendium or Battle Pass sales, which are released ahead of the tournament.
What Happened in 2024
For The International 2024, the prize pool totaled $2,776,566 — of which $1,600,000 was the base amount, and $1,176,566 came from Compendium sales. The Compendium was released on August 22, 2024, 13 days before the tournament began (on September 4, 2024). That means the total sales of the Compendium amounted to approximately $4,706,264, since 25% of that revenue went into the prize pool.
What to Expect for The International 2025
The International 2025 is set to start on September 4, 2025, and the Compendium will likely be released on August 21, 2025 — giving it 14 days of sales before the tournament kicks off. This is one day more than in 2024, which could slightly increase overall sales.

If the trend from TI13 continues, the prize pool for The International 2025 will be around $2.8 million — only slightly higher than the previous Dota 2 World Championship. In other words, the 2025 Compendium could contribute around $1.2 million to the prize pool.
