Dmitry "Korb3n" Belov, the manager of
Team Spirit, stated that Valve canceled the Battle Pass because they needed more resources to work on Deadlock.
He shared this during a Twitch stream.
"Obviously, they're working on Deadlock, and they needed to free up time for it. I'm super convinced that the Battle Pass was canceled solely because they needed to allocate people to Deadlock. Considering that Deadlock overlaps with Dota in some areas, and seeing how the average Dota 2 player base has been dropping recently, it's clear that people are switching to play Deadlock"
Korb3n emphasized that he is confident Valve shifted part of their team from Dota 2 to focus on developing Deadlock. He also pointed out that many aspects of the new game seem to overlap with the well-known MOBA.
Additionally, the
Team Spirit manager noted the decline in Dota 2’s average player count, suggesting that players are moving to explore Deadlock. His statement appears logical, given the rapid growth in Deadlock's player base, which correlates with the loss of Dota 2's audience.
Earlier, Korb3n also commented on the new
Team Spirit roster and their preparation for the tournament.
