Kamil "Koma`" Biktimirov, a streamer for
Team Spirit, explained that in most cases, changing roles to raise MMR is not the best approach, and it should be considered only if playing in the current position leads to burnout.
He shared this advice during a Twitch stream.
“When you change roles, you start playing even worse. Unless you're completely burned out from it. I personally never experienced not wanting to play carry, although it happened when my MMR was already high”
He said that one can change roles if he/she bored with them while playing the previous one but then this will lead to bad performance and no skills advancement. He also stated that two or three weeks are enough for someone to realize whether the new role is comfortable.
“The thing is, you can try changing roles. But saying, 'That's it, I'm only going to play the offlane' is very radical. You can try playing another role for a period of two to three weeks. If you like it, then continue”
Moreover, he noted that such extreme changes are not desirable for everyone because abrupt swap of roles may cause problems in terms of MMR and overall gaming experience.
Earlier, Koma explained how double ranked bets could be used properly for quickly raising your mmr in Dota 2 game.
