Dmitry “Korb3n” Belov, manager of
Team Spirit, called the use of Single Elimination in the championship playoffs an extremely bad decision by the organizers of the Riyadh Masters 2025.
He said in a new video on the club's YouTube channel.
"In the playoffs, it's a complete flop. Single Elimination is a very bad decision. History has known a million examples with winning through the bottom net. Everyone is interested in the stories of underdogs and the kambak of teams. That's tough and cool. It's a cacer theme, but we don't like it. The tournament is going on for two weeks, so we could have done it like we did before"
Korb3n said that the group stage system works great - every match is interesting for the viewers and matters. In his opinion, the situation with the playoffs is dramatically worse due to the lack of a lower grid. The manager emphasized that such a system is more typical for CS2, but in Dota 2 teams have become champions more than once, having made their way through the lower grid, having made a comeback.
He believes that given the duration of the tournament there was no need to change the playoff system, so he called this decision a mistake of the organizers of EWC 2025.
Earlier, Anton “Dyrachyo” Shkredov admitted that he overheard the strategy of his opponents and brought
Gaimin Gladiators victory.
