Mark “Sikle” Lerman found a bug on the
Weaver hero in Dota 2 that allows both allies and opponents to receive gold and assists.
The
Team Spirit analyst reported this on Telegram.
“A very strange bug in the spirit of Dota: from the very beginning of the game, Weaver (it's not just a coincidence that he's called ”bug") applies the hidden modifier modifier_weaver_timelapse not only to himself, but also to his allies (apparently so that Aghanim's Scepter works correctly later) — I can't guess why.
If the enemy Terrorblade uses “Reflection” on Weaver, this modifier flows over to his allies and acts as a hidden temporary buff. This works across the entire map, so if an ally kills someone within 10-15 seconds after “Reflection,” Terrorblade will receive both the assist and the gold for the kill.
It's a very strange interaction, but there is another hidden bug that allows you to loot assists/gold on any hero across the entire map. You know where to look for it.
And yes, this bug works with Weaver without any fuss, because from time to time the hero gets assists/gold out of thin air due to the same modifier (modifier_weaver_timelapse), which is applied and updated on his allies automatically. The update occurs as soon as the hero respawns.
EDIT: In Weaver's case, the buff is updated after the hero appears on the map, i.e. after death. If an ally kills the hero within ~10-15 seconds (for example, after TP), then the assist + gold will be awarded.”
According to Mark “Sikle” Lerman, the bug occurs because
Weaver has a specific modifier in the game code, which is most likely responsible for the correct functioning of
Aghanims Scepter. If you understand how the modifier works, you can effectively abuse gold and assists.
Activating the bug against Weaver:
Select
Terrorblade.Use Reflection on
Weaver.A teammate must kill any enemy within 10–15 seconds.
Activating the bug in a team with Weaver:
If the hero respawns after death, you need to kill any enemy within 10–15 seconds.
It also works after using Manta Style and the rune of illusions.
We remind you that earlier, Mark “sikle” Lerman proposed adding a new hero interaction mechanic to Dota 2.
