Samuel "Boxi" Svahn, Team Liquid support, shared that the lack of confidence in their strategies and the need for constant adaptation prevented the team from winning Dota 2 tournaments for eight years, but this changed at The International 2024.

The esports player discussed this in an interview with CYBER.

"It's not necessarily about the ideas themselves, but on a gameplay level, we spent too much time thinking about unnecessary things. It's hard to objectively see what you missed in the moment. Obviously, it’s clear later on, but if you have only 10 minutes to make a decision, it’s challenging.

So, when you win - even if the strategy wasn’t perfect - you at least feel confident enough to try it again. For us, it was important to win a few matches to feel confident in what we were doing.

Then Gladiators lost the first map, and they began to change their approach. It didn't go better for them after that. We basically snowballed them"

Boxi explained that consistent wins help build confidence in oneself and one’s tactics. According to the world champion, teams that frequently lose tend to lose faith in their strategies and overthink things, worsening the situation. He used Gaimin Gladiators as an example, where Team Liquid managed to shake their opponents' confidence and snowballed to victory at TI13.

Previously, Boxi shared why he doesn't appear at Dota 2 tournaments without sunglasses.
