Troels Lyngholt “syndereN” Nielsen believes that the new global patch for Dota 2 could be released in early July, before the start of EWC 2026.
The analyst made this statement on YouTube.
“If Valve is indeed preparing a major gameplay patch before or after EWC 2026, I think they’ll release it right before the tournament. Now that TI isn’t in September anymore, there isn’t much time left.
To be honest, I don’t remember the last five years well enough to say for sure when major patches usually came out before The International. But it seems to me that more often than not, the last major patch—not just some minor balance fix like 7.38b—was released in advance so that the developers would have time to fix any issues and so that TI could take place on a stable and balanced version of the game. If that’s really the case, then the deadline for a major gameplay update would likely be early July.”
According to a statement by Troels Lyngholt “syndereN” Nielsen, if Valve plans to release a patch before The International 2026, they’ll release it in advance to fix any potential issues before the event. However, the analyst is not certain that the developers plan to change the meta ahead of the upcoming TI15.
