Azure Ray player Lu «Somnus» Yao commented on the situation with BetBoom Team at Bali Major 2023 and explained why his team insisted on the removal of Ivan «Pure» Moskalenko from the BB in the match against them.
CN Dota In A Nutshell on Twitter:
Somnus said he think they did nothing wrong with that BB situation cuz according to rulebook BB did violate the rules, and AR is just following the rules. He said they prepared a lot against TUNDRA, their coach is even watching TUNDRA’s replay all night long.
And they are okay to face TUNDRA even after BB‘s violation behavior was exposed. But it’s crazy and unfair to force them to play against a different opponent all of a sudden especially when they only got around 2 hours to prepare for that series, not to mention BB is stronger than TUNDRA cuz they just beat them. He said it’s absurd that they have to bear BB’s mistakes, and since BB violate the rules they will need to take the responsibility and get punished as they should, which means the player who break the rules can’t play the tournament anymore.
Then BetBoom Team beat Tundra Esports. Leon «Nine» Kirilin playing on the second map on the hero Rubick, dealt more than 174k damage and became the fifth in history in terms of the most damage dealt.
BetBoom Team got a def loss and fell to the lower bracket, where they played against Azure Ray. However, the Chinese team did not agree with this turn of events and demanded to follow the rules of the tournament and remove Pure. As a result, Pure was disqualified, and Roman «Resolut1on» Fomynok replaced him in the BB for the match.
