Aleksei “Solo” Berezin unexpectedly stated that in his most famous 322 scheme not only he was involved, but the whole team, however he was asked to take all the responsibility on himself, and he did it.
He spoke about this in the YouTube show “Hazyayeva na Kolesakh”.
“We had a team called RoX.KIS. And we lost the qualifier for the world championship. Our manager, who was responsible for the schedule of the roster and, in general, the life of the team, started pushing us into this ***. So how it happened: we were going to play a match, and he says: ‘Guys, today you play against a team on which I put money. If you lose, I will earn, and if you win, I will be happy that my team won.’ And we were like: ‘What the ****? Why are you saying such things?’
According to him, in fact the initiator of the famous 322 scheme was not him, but the RoX.KIS manager. Solo emphasized that all players knew about the matchfixing and consciously agreed to it. He said that the match did not decide anything anymore, and the roster had no chances to get to the LAN tournament, so the players decided to at least earn some money.
“And little by little he convinced us and предложил to do it in a match that didn’t decide anything — at least we thought so — at the StarLadder qualifiers. There were 16 teams in the group, and the first four go to LAN. We were fifth and already could not reach fourth place. So this game was the last in the group and didn’t decide anything.
And he says: ‘Let’s make this thing, you **** the game, and I will place the bet.’ He had some acquaintances with big limits. I think there was also some American bookmaker. And we were like: ‘Okay, if the game decides nothing, let’s earn something.’ At that time we had no salaries. We played on enthusiasm, we wanted to eat, everyone had some personal problems.
So, we decided to go for this story. An hour before the match he called me and says: ‘Lyokha, a new site opened. *** also 100 dollars there. Let’s see how it works.’ I said: ‘Yeah, sure, Den, no problem, I’ll bet.’ I registered an account on my girlfriend. At that time we were not married yet, and she had a different surname and other data. I placed 100 dollars on coefficient 3,22 on our team to lose”
According to him, the manager made the main bets, and the team just had to lose the match. In addition, he was separately offered to place a bet with odds 3,22, where he put $100 and became famous in the Dota 2 community.
The player noted that the scheme was quickly discovered, and the manager asked him to take all the blame, which he did out of respect for his teammates. He also said that he managed to avoid serious punishment, and he even contacted IceFrog in Skype to clarify whether he was banned in Dota 2 after that.
His former teammate Ivan “VANSKOR” Skorokhod confirmed that the players really knew about the scheme, but he personally refused to participate in it, so the team took a stand-in instead. Nevertheless, it was Solo who was called the first 322-sharer in Dota 2, because he took all the responsibility on himself.
