In the night of May 23, Valve released gameplay patch 7.36 along with the second act of Crownfall, titled "Druud Wastes". This act features 59 levels, new rewards, and a third treasure. Tokens from the previous act cannot be used in this new act.

Simultaneously with the release of the new act, the developers introduced a new comic that serves as a prologue to "Druud Wastes." According to the story, the lands were attacked by demons led by
Underlord, forcing all the warring clans of the region to unite.
The comic features several heroes from Dota 2:
Centaur Warrunner,
Axe, and
Disruptor. Additionally, the story introduces Sorla Khan from Artifact and Kraugh—the leader of the rebels, whom
Skywrath Mage and
Pudge went searching for at the end of the first act.
In the second act, players can receive two free treasures, 12 shop coins, 21 candy bags, and other cosmetic rewards. Valve also released a new treasure.
In patch 7.36, Valve added two new mechanics to Dota 2: Aspects, which expand the capabilities of characters, and Innate Abilities, which grant each hero unique bonuses from the start of the match.
