Dmitry “Recrent” Osintsev believes that Valve is currently focused on working on Deadlock, which is why the developers are paying less attention to the development of Dota 2 and Counter-Strike.
The streamer shared this opinion on Twitch.
"No, Valve is really sweating it out, sitting around. Well, I mean, they've kind of given up on CS 2 and Dota. Well, CS and Dota are already working well, actually. People have been playing them for years, like, they don't even need updates to enjoy playing. These are timeless games. You can leave them unchanged for a year or two, and people will still play them anyway. So they gave up on them, aren't adding anything special, aren't changing anything, and are just focusing on Deadlock. They're working very hard on Deadlock.
According to Dmitry “Recrent” Osintsev, Dota 2 and Counter-Strike are popular among players even without updates, which is why these games don't require regular updates. The content creator believes that the developers have put these games on the back burner, focusing their attention on a new project.
As a reminder, Valve previously brought Counter-Strike: Global Offensive back to Steam as a separate game.
