Quinn “Quinn” Callahan, the
Gaimin Gladiators midlaner, has admitted that he didn't plan on becoming a pro player in Dota 2, and started building a career as a cyber athlete just so he wouldn't have to go to college.
He revealed this in an interview with Taverna.GG.
“I was about 17, just starting my last year of high school.
I was VERY reluctant to go to college because I didn't know what I wanted to do at all.
The very idea of going to college disgusted me. I thought, okay, what can I do that I don't have to study? I was pretty good at Dota by that point. Back then, top players were at 5K MMR, and I had somewhere around 4.5K. That's around the time I started streaming.
Didn't even think about the pro scene at first - just wanted to make some money to avoid college. I started with coaching, streaming and analytics, because I was still playing badly at the time. At the same time, I started playing in some no-name teams, and everything just kind of went by itself. But it all started with a simple thought: “I don't want to go to college. What should I do?”
Quinn noted that he was 17 years old and was soon to go to college, but he was very reluctant to do so. According to him, at first he was doing streamers, earning some money to avoid studying.
However, later came the opportunity to declare himself in Team Freedom when the selection process for The International 2017 was underway, and that's how his cybersports career began.
Recall that Quinn previously surprised with a statement about No[o]ne, revealing his main difference from other players.
