Quinn “Quinn” Callahan, former midlaner of Gaimin Gladiators, said that he left the Dota 2 pro scene because he was literally tired of playing and sacrificing time with his loved ones for the sake of his career.

The esports player talked about this during Sébastien “Ceb” Debs’ podcast on YouTube.

“I got tired of playing pubs all day while my family’s life was passing by me. To be among the best, you sacrifice everything. For 6–7 years of my career I woke up every day and played Dota the whole day. You miss birthdays because of tournaments, bootcamps, qualifiers and so on”

Quinn admitted that it became really hard for him to grind pubs all day just to stay on top. According to him, building a pro career means sacrificing a lot, including time with family. He said he missed birthdays and other important family dates because of constant practice, bootcamps and tournaments.

The midlaner added that for the last six years he literally launched Dota 2 every day and played the whole day, and now he’s glad he doesn’t have to do it anymore.
