Valve's decision to release the global Patch 7.35 for Dota 2 in the midst of ESL One Kuala Lumpur 2023 can be considered a kind of clownery, but it would have been worse if something similar happened in the middle of Riyadh Masters or The International 2023.
Such a statement was made by Quinn "Quinn" Callahan, the midlaner of
Gaimin Gladiators, during an interview for Esports.gg.
"We have an off day today, so it’s better for us than other teams. I don’t know, it’s a bit clowney, Valve is full of surprises. It’s alright you know. If it was TI or Riyadh, I’d be really mad. But this tournament is not either of those so it’s fine, you know. It’s not the end of the world to me. Yeah, hopefully, this doesn’t become a trend"
Nevertheless, the player evaluated the update quite positively. He emphasized that the changes are not as radical as many believe but allowed removing stagnation from the game, diversifying hero builds.
Recall that Valve decided to release Patch 7.35 during the ESL One Kuala Lumpur 2023 playoffs, shocking esports players and the Dota 2 community.
