With the release of patch 7.41, Dota 2 introduced a new mechanic that lets players gather resources directly during a match.
The developers added a Tier 1 neutral item — Forager’s Kit, which enables new interactions with the environment. When off cooldown, the item highlights trees that can be harvested. If a hero stays near such a tree for about a second, they receive one of several rewards: a nut, a mushroom, or a pouch of gold.

Among the possible finds:
Ironwood Nut — grants a movement speed bonus and, when used, permanently increases the hero’s primary attribute;
Vital Toadstool — boosts health regeneration, but the effect is canceled if the hero takes damage from enemies or Roshan.
This new system introduces a resource-gathering element into matches, rewarding players for map control and awareness.
