Yaroslav “NS” Kuznetsov who used to play professionally in esports and currently streams believed that it was fair to bar professional players from using the same heroes during a tournament match and moreover, it is fair if Valve made changes to current tournament rules.

He suggested this on his channel on Telegram.

NS wants Valve to follow the same approach as Riot Games with respect to tournament restrictions. The new restrictions revolved around a situation when there were matches that needed 3 wins or 5 wins, in this case players could not use a hero they had already used for that specific series. In layman’s terms, every round of an event would require all players to use different heroes.

The streamer emphasized that he had been advocating a similar model to Valve for a couple of years already but made it clear that it would be unreasonable to expect the developers of Dota 2 to follow such recommendation.

We would like to note that earlier this year Ilya “Yatoro” Mulyarchuk had also reached out to Valve asking to be allowed to play in Dota 2 on smurf accounts.
