As for Yaroslav “NS” Kuznetsov, a streamer and former esports player, it is his opinion that the spread in ranks is becoming such a problem that soon there will be people with a 20,000 MMR in Dota 2, and as for the rest of the players, they will never be able to play with their friends again. Instead, as he claims, Valve could have reverted the rating system in a bid to have better matchmaking.
However, this all could be done only during a Twitch stream.
“They could adjust the rating way so that the matchmaking would make it easy for certain players within the same bracket to play together in a party, It makes it hard to play many times when there are so many players within the score range that are different; one solution that people seem to mention is a smurf account, but I don’t think anybody is willing to risk that. So how else do we play? It wouldn’t be too long until we see people sitting at a 20k MMR”
To make things better, NS also pointed out that playing with smurfs is not how most people would like to play, he said: Its a mess to play and what I personally see as a virtual blessing, knee plus reset do able at this point might be the solution and have a good rating for team fight which worked out perfectly in this scenario. It is important to note though that not all players are affected by the increase in MMR, many more will be close to the 20k MMR, as was the case with Ilya “Yatoro” Mulyarchuk, who reached 16k within no time.
Earlier, NS stated that the MMR rating in Dota 2 has been retired, recalling how the system functioned in the previous times.
