Yaroslav “NS,” Kuznetsov ,whose claim to fame is being both a streamer and an esports player, made a bold statement by claiming that many players would return to Dota 2 if the MMR rating were to be reset.
’NS’ made these statements during a Twitch stream.
“For instance, have it so that everyone has a default rating. There’s been so many complaints, it could potentially force people to play who never wanted to. The skill gap in MMR wouldn’t necessarily change very much, maybe even take it away altogether. Because even with a massive earthquake where approximately only 5k or 6k rating is usually recommended. Of course players of relatively low tiers would benefit from this but at the same time the majority of players would be annoyed greatly. Just fix the issues that are prevalent and start competing again. Now, I would argue that seeing these changes implemented in the rating system would be quite the event in terms of Dota’s revival in the competitive scene”
Furthermore, players would be able to see a huge reduction in the number of ruiners and mismatched players at higher tiers.
It is also relevant to mention that Ilya “Yatoro” Mulyarchuk agreed fully with these arguments and commented that resetting the rating would have much more impact if it were set at approximately 5000.
