Yaroslav “NS” Kuznetsov stated that the MMR rating has long lost its significance in the pro scene and does not reflect a player’s performance in tournaments.
The streamer and former professional player shared this during a Twitch broadcast
“Of course, MMR is not an indicator. It never was, otherwise the top-1 at any The International would be the guys with the highest rating, which often doesn’t match reality. So, the rating was never an absolute measure of anything. For a while, it at least reflected something somewhat, but for the last five years, it’s even embarrassing to look at. When Streamers Battle started and players began being judged by MMR, even more so”
According to him, MMR no longer reflects the real situation in the pro scene. He noted that players occupying the top-1 spot on the ladder very rarely win tournaments. NS emphasized that MMR still had some significance for pro players about five years ago but today it’s nothing more than just numbers.
A similar opinion is shared by Ilya “Yatoro” Mulyarchuk, who said that players at the top of the ranking usually do not win tournaments.
It’s worth noting that earlier, Miroslav “Mira” Kolpakov suddenly moved closer to the
Team Spirit bootcamp.
