Yaroslav "NS" Kuznetsov stated that a major Dota 2 patch will be released closer to spring 2026, but players can expect a smaller but important update soon.
The former esports player made this announcement during a Twitch stream.
"Generally speaking, if you think about what the new patch will be—and there will be one, sometime. I'm not sure it will be soon. Valve traditionally releases a major patch, usually around spring. Right now, if Valve plans to do anything at all, it'll likely be a small patch that fixes Helm of the Dominator, some minor issues, adds Kez to Captain's Mode, and we'll play with that. Don't expect a major patch"
NS noted that Valve typically doesn't release major updates immediately after The International, so players will have to wait. He believes patch 7.40 could be released in a few months, or even in early 2026.
However, he emphasized that another small but important update is on the way. The streamer believes it will address the current meta, nerf
Helm Of The Dominator, and likely add
Kez to Captain's Mode.
