Yaroslav "NS" Kuznetsov stated that Valve continuously complicates Dota 2, which creates problems for beginners and drives away new players.

"This is a problem of Dota 2 and any MOBA – game complication does not stop. That’s why community, veterans and core audience always ask for changes. They beg for something new but in the same time cannot accept the removal of old ones. We will not just remove talents and add aspects instead. Now we have both of them: talents and aspects. This brings in some problems. The more such things are there, the more difficult it is to learn for beginners who start feeling deluged by the number of features"

According to NS, this is a problem that is not only peculiar to Dota 2 but also the whole MOBA genre because players want constant development and new features. Still he thinks that Valve tries to balance complexity with making it interesting even for those who just started playing.

"Valve has chosen a path that doesn't make a game too complicated. It does not push back newcomers but rather pulls them in. It seems like they want to make one million ways of promoting a mess into chaos at once! Perhaps at high-level these functions don’t matter at all even though on low-level it becomes more fun, as Fortnite was during its prime"
