NS explained why Dota 2 has been superior to CS2 for ten years

Yaroslav Kuznetsov said that Dota 2 surpasses Counter-Strike 2 in variety, despite the solid age of the game, and that you can constantly see something new there.

The streamer and former pro player shared this in a comment to the OFFSTAGE portal.

“Why is Dota better than CS? If we speak in absolute terms, Dota is more interesting because it has much more variety. No matter how long you play Dota, you can always see something new. Literally see something that has never happened before. You can witness some combinations, and it is also fueled by patches, new heroes, items. Even if you look at tricks that I used to do before, and now other players are doing them, absolutely unique things can still happen there”

According to him, even though the game is already more than 10 years old, players can still encounter something new during matches. Unique combinations, patches with new heroes, items — all of this keeps the interest alive despite its age.

He added that this is where Dota 2 outperforms CS2, where almost nothing new has appeared for years. Nevertheless, he also pointed out that the project has its own advantages.

“CS in this regard is absolutely sterile. It is very simple. But that is its strong side. It is very easy to start playing, easy to watch. You don’t need to deeply understand it. I think Dota is better than CS. But CS is better as a game to watch and to chill”

According to him, although CS2 lacks the depth and variability of Dota 2, it is much easier to play. NS explained that because of the project’s consistency, it is also easy to watch and understand what is happening on the screen, which positively affects tournament viewership and the community.
