According to Yaroslav “NS” Kuznetsov, there might be a Dota 2 patch during March or April and towards the end of July, Valve may introduce a new long term story event like Crownfall.
The streamer and previously an esports player revealed this information via his Telegram channel.
“Seeing that the International has not shifted or been moved to a different location, it is safe to assume that we can expect a variation of last season. So, a major or moderately major patch during the March or April period. In the May or June period, there will be some change like event Crownfall to entertain us until the New Year”
He mentioned that there is a possibility of a major patch not being introduced at all but pointed to the long gap of no important news, indicating that Valve could be working on big news.
“By the way, we are currently using a version of Dota that was present during TI, and up until now, there was only one small gameplay patch that was released at the beginning of November. Some alterations were made to the items and heroes. That was it. There have not been any changes for the last 3 months and no one even remembers the last major update.
I would guess that Valve is getting ready for some kind of big upgrade. Perhaps we are likely to see it in March or April, and there is a possibility that there will be no patches until then, or rather, just a very minor one to keep the complaints to a minimum"
NS emphasized that smaller patches of gameplay may never come until spring season due to the fact that Valve may be working on something big. However, at least there is no information about an event or a patch, therefore it is unknown whether developers intend to release something like a Crownfall event this year.
In the past, Valve announced The International 2025 almost out of the blue, paying special attention to the details of this year's championship.
