Yaroslav “NS” Kuznetsov believes that developers from Valve should establish a connection between the lore of Dota 2 and Deadlock, the new MOBA-shooter from the company.
The streamer shared the relevant opinion in a private Twitch broadcast.
“If I was making Deadlock, I'd think about tying it tightly, lore-wise and whatever way you want to tie it to Dota, so that there's some kinship, some continuity, some common grain. So that people would be like: “Shit, yeah.” Like, 'I play as Pangolier, only in Deadlock'.”
The content maker also believes that developers often add a variety of references to their projects, but they do it covertly, causing most players to learn about them from bloggers rather than finding them on their own.
“Valve loves references and passphrases in its games to its other games, it does it all the time. But it's usually very veiled, hidden, hidden that it's only with a YouTube video that you can find out there's some kind of reference or hint.”
Deadlock received positive reviews from many professional Dota 2 players and game streamers, who noted the strong similarities between the two games.
Recall, earlier Yaroslav “NS” Kuznetsov expressed criticism about the new game, saying that he did not like Deadlock.
