Alexander "Nix" Levin stated that Valve has prohibited him from watching the official broadcast of The International 2024 and may ban him if he violates this restriction.
The streamer and former esports player shared this during a Twitch stream.
"Guys, they’ve banned me from watching the official broadcast. I could get banned for it. There’s nothing I can do about it; this is the first year they’ve done this. Before, they had no problem with community casters promoting Dota 2. I don’t get it, I think it's a disadvantage for them. The World Championship should get the biggest reach, and limiting someone like this..."
He then speculated on the reasoning behind the organizers' decision for TI13. According to Nix, he spoke with Jan "Gorgc" Stefanovski and other well-known streamers, suggesting that there may have been a leadership change at Valve, which could explain the new rules.
"I think either the whole top management at Valve changed—this is the most popular opinion among the people I've talked to, including Gorgc and others—or it's actually PGL doing this, but they're presenting it as if it's Valve"
Valve or PGL have not yet commented on the situation or confirmed whether this restriction applies to Nix or other streamers.
Earlier, Nix mentioned that he might leave Dota 2 and revealed what he believes is the true root of the problem.
