Alexander “Nix” Levin criticized Artem “Niku” Bachkur, the 17-year-old mid player of NAVI, calling him a noob and stating that even with a third rank he cannot actually play Dota 2.
The streamer talked about this during a Twitch broadcast.
“Young players who came to Dota now never saw the old mid, where you could lose the whole game because of one creep. They never played difficult matchups. They are used to always having their farm. Because of that, they don’t understand how to get out of hard matchups. Niku has rank 3, and because of that you think he is like super sweaty, but in reality he is just an abuser. That’s the whole difference”
According to him, young players lack experience from the old Dota 2, when you constantly had to survive in hard situations and look for small chances. In Nix’s opinion, despite his high rank, Niku cannot play Dota 2 on the highest level and does not understand the game mechanics well.
“Ranks right now show nothing at all. He has rank 3, but he is a total noob. Send him to lane against, let’s say, Sumail — his game would be over instantly. He would never be able to do anything. Dota itself now allows you to play terribly and understand nothing. Mid lane right now is not about laning at all. The new school has basically zero knowledge”
Nix is convinced that the new generation of players loses to old-school esports players. According to him, Niku achieved a high rank not because of skill, but simply by abusing strong heroes and winning strategies in matchmaking.
