Nix Dota 2 Patch 7.38

In response to his Twitch viewers during a livestream broadcast thread, Alexander Levin, often known as Nix, expressed his dissatisfaction regarding the current state of Dota 2 stating that the developers have gone too far in making the game more casual. To him, from what it used to be, it lacks several features that made it great in the first place.

In a Twitch stream broadcast, Nix, who is also a streamer, expressed his view on the issue.

“Every damage item has been nerfed. And this has been happening for several years in a row. A patch came out where every single person knew that Glimmer Cape was OP, yet were untouched because the dev himself used it. It’s as if they have actively set out to make everyone below average HP, nerfing or restricting highlight creator”

Nix stated how dislikeable he finds the implementation of current patches over the last few years has been, especially with the drastic shifts to item nerfing. He also emphasized on the fact that as a result of these changes, the game is missing highlight moments as well.

“I’m just trying to explain the mechanics of Dota. Winning the game takes many adaptations and approaches, and I, for one, don’t want any part of it. I enjoyed various aspects of this game, but the criticism has been relentless. I am not claiming it is poorly designed as some Dota players do appreciate what is on offer, but I don’t appreciate the direction Dota has gone in after IceFrog's exit. There was a time when Dota was rich enough in high skill and micro skilled player”

His sentiments reflect that although there is creativity and skill, it is heavily stifled by the need to follow the meta build. Nix agrees that this adjustment leaves much to be desired, but it’s also what IceFrog’s grasping onto, and that’s why I love Dota 2. Some people may see it from a different angle, and they in turn probably don’t agree with the changes that have taken place, especially since IceFrog left.

Yaroslav “NS” Kuznetsov previously mentioned that even the new patch will not make him want to return to Dota 2.
