Alexander “Nix” Levin believes that Valve's decision to expand the map of Dota 2 was the main mistake of the developers, which destroyed the essence of the game, depriving it of its uniqueness.

The streamer and former cybersportsman said this during a broadcast on Twitch.

"I can name the number one mistake from the developers of Dota, even if you don't take into account all the other changes. The number one mistake is the map expansion. I think that's the most gigantic mistake they made. It stopped making Dota a Dota. All of this can be safely removed - playing without it will be *****. Previously, because of the limited amount of resources on the map, players were forced to fight because there were simply no other opportunities to get them"

According to him, it was the map expansion in patch 7.33 that was the failed solution. Nix emphasized that it took away the main feature of Dota 2 - the need for constant fighting and display of skill. He recalled that previously the amount of gold and experience on the map was limited, and players were forced to engage in battles. Now, according to the streamer, you can just go into the woods and quietly farm without paying attention to what is happening on the lines.

He noted that earlier cybersportsmen went for tricks, developed non-standard strategies and surprised with their actions. After the expansion of the map, all of this, in his opinion, has become a thing of the past. Nix is sure: if we roll back this decision, the game will become interesting and tense again.

Recall that earlier Nix said that he may finally quit streaming, not only on Dota 2.
