Famous streamer Alexander “Nix” Levin shared a video on Twitch naming the new Dota 2 meta for Patch 7.38 with the best heroes for every position chosen.
"Mid - DK, Carry - BS, Offlane - any hero that benefits from Vanguard; Axe is worth noting. The new Halberd is great, and you should build it on any hero running Vanguard. For position five, definitely Jakiro he’s just broken, they gave him a crazy aspect. For position four, I’d highlight Shadow Shaman and Bounty Hunter. Troll and Sven also think of got stronger, Alchemist is still OP. CM mid is worth trying and Pudge carry could also work"
As for Nix, he stated that the best carry
Bloodseeker is currently performing great in matchmaking having a whopping win rate of over 55%. He also declared
Dragon Knight the best midlaner, who has a hugely impressive 58% win rate.
For offlane, he said there is a reasonable variety of heroes, but strongly pointed out to build
Vanguard and
Heavens Halberd, putting special emphasis on
Axe as a great option. For position four, he offered
Shadow Shaman and
Bounty Hunter, who have recently become more common in matchmaking. His first place for full support was
Jakiro, while explaining that the new aspect of the hero, where each head has a separate cooldown, makes him way too overpowered.

Nix did make an observation regarding the Dota 2 meta and pointed out that there are numerous changes with most heroes from the last meta being suffered heavily. He did reference the nerfs suffered by
Morphling especially, stating that the hero that was once one of the best carries has become significantly weaker.
There was a hotfix released by Valve after patch 7.38 due to overwhelming request, where they added a lot of balance changes.
