Alexander “Nix” Levin says Dota 2 is dying, and in order to save the game, Valve has to reset the MMR, implement a new patch and fix smurfing.
He spoke about this on his Twitch channel.
“Dota is dead. The moment the developers touch it, it’s a dead game in my eyes. Smurfers, exploiters, and cheaters, what do they need to do? They need to remove the MMR from the game and introduce a new patch. Only then can I consider it a playable game”
According to Nix, the case that MMR inflation has been left unchecked for too long is rather worrying, so he warned that the developers will need to give everyone a clean slate on rating when joining rooms to ensure proper matchmaking. To him, it seems like Valve should implement some sort of a gameplay patch, seeing as how it has been like forever since the meta was in November.
He drew attention over smurfing, bug abusing and cheating with the good old - this is a serious issue that needs some resources to fix. Even though there are millions of culprits to battle through, Valve has already arrived at this war with clenched fists. There are sounds that developers began to follow suspect games that should not be – counted more seriously. Apparently, a new barrage of bans is likely to follow.
As a reminder, there was previously a hidden update in Dota 2. Valve may be preparing to radically change the matchmaking situation.
