Alexander “Nix” Levin stated that League of Legends and Dota 2 are similar in concept, but in fact differ greatly in mechanics, graphics, and micro-control.
The streamer talked about this during a Twitch broadcast.
“Yeah, I can jump into Dota right now and destroy everyone, because I spent a huge amount of time on it. But LoL — it really feels like I need to learn how to play a completely new game. These are two very different games, let’s be honest. Only the core concept is the same. And look at Dota’s graphics, damn — just look at it. Everything looks so beautiful”
He explained that he played Dota 2 for so long that even after a long break he can still dominate opponents, while in LoL he needs to relearn the game. According to him, although the games may seem similar at first glance, in reality their mechanics, systems, and visuals are radically different. Because of this, he noted that players who are strong in Dota 2 will not necessarily perform just as well in League of Legends.
Nix also separately emphasized the graphics, pointing out that Dota 2 clearly outperforms its competitor in this aspect. At the same time, he previously said that LoL 2 could surpass Valve’s MOBA if it significantly improves its graphical component, which could seriously impact Dota 2’s player numbers.
