The International 2025 saw the largest number of matches lasting over an hour, which is an absolute record in the history of Dota 2.
This year's World Championship saw 19 matches that lasted over 60 minutes. Moreover, the tournament is not over yet, so there is a chance that this figure could increase.
The previous record was held by The International 2014, when 17 long matches were played. Then,
Newbee won the tournament, earning over $5 million in prize money.
Number of maps lasting more than an hour:
The International 2025 — 19 maps
The International 2014 — 17 maps
The International 2016 — 16 maps
The International 2019 — 16 maps
The International 2023 — 14 maps
Interestingly, the fastest in terms of matches was the 2023 tournament, where
Team Spirit became the undisputed champions, and there were only 14 long maps.
It is worth noting that The International 2025 could have set another historical Dota 2 record, but now this is impossible.
