Netflix does not plan to continue the series "Arcane" after the second season, which will be the final installment for the anime based on League of Legends.
This was reported on the official Netflix page for Arcane.
One of the creators of the series, Christian Linke, confirmed that the second season will indeed be the last for "Arcane," bringing closure to the story arc that began in the first season.
"From the very beginning, when we started working on this project, we had a very specific ending in mind, which means the story of Arcane wraps up with this second season."
This indicates that fans should not expect a third season of "Arcane" in the future. All plotlines are set to be concluded in the final episode of the second season. However, this does not mean there will be no anime or other adaptations based on League of Legends.
Will there be a continuation of Arcane?
Christian Linke emphasized that while the second season of "Arcane" will be the last, it doesn't imply that there won't be other adaptations of the iconic game by Riot Games. On the contrary, the show's creator stated that "Arcane" was just one of many stories the creators of League of Legends want to tell.
"Arcane is just the beginning of our larger storytelling journey and partnership with the wonderful animation studio Fortiche. And this is just the first of many stories that we want to tell in Runeterra."
In other words, instead of a third season of "Arcane," fans can look forward to new anime adaptations based on League of Legends featuring different champions in leading roles. It is worth noting that, according to Linke, the creators of the new anime will also be the studio behind the original series—Fortiche. Therefore, it is reasonable to expect that the quality of storytelling and graphics in future projects will remain high.
Previously, it was announced which characters will appear in the second season of "Arcane," set to release in November 2024.
