In Dota 2 players are talking more and more about Shrines special buildings that used to be on the map and gave hp and mana regen and also worked as teleport spots.
Shrines were added back in patch 7.00 but later removed in patch 7.24 when Valve reworked the map. After that the game changed a lot teams could no longer rely on Shrines and had to use other ways to heal and move around.
A recent Reddit post reminded everyone that Shrines were removed exactly 7 years ago and that started a wave of nostalgia jokes and discussions. Many players said it feels like it was just yesterday and that removing Shrines is still a controversial move.
Opinions are split. Some players say Shrines were great for long fights base defense and high ground pushes and made the map more interesting. Others think the mechanic was bad because it made defending way too strong and dragged games out.
People who want Shrines back say they added more depth and strategy especially in late game. On the other hand many believe the current map portals and mechanics already do the job and bringing Shrines back could mess up the balance again.
