Miroslav "Mira" Kolpakov said that he didn't get into
Team Spirit the first time and didn't even pass the testing. However, Dmitry "Korb3n" Belov gave him a chance to play a few games for the team, which allowed him to break into the main roster.
The two-time Dota 2 world champion spoke about this during an interview with Mrs.Marple on YouTube.
"I passed the first tests in Spirit back in the summer of 2020. I, Ilyukha, Sanya were tested there... maybe Antokha, Ilyukha, Dream. Several players were also tested in mid instead of Sanya. There were 2-3 options for each position.
The first time I didn't pass the tests and stayed with my team, Cascade. Maga was taken away, but I continued to play. From the end of summer until winter, we actively played practice with Yellow Submarine, that is, against the future Spirit. I played very well then, we tried to beat them - it didn't work, but we constantly put up a fight.
I decided that if I didn't get into a strong team, I would go to school. Dota would become a secondary hobby. Then I broke up with my girlfriend, was semi-depressed and took antidepressants for the first time in my life. I don't recommend this to anyone, but I decided to do it for myself.
Somewhere in December before the New Year, I started taking them. Then I somehow "rose from the dead" emotionally, played all day for two months. At the end of January or beginning of February 2021, Dima Korben wrote to me: "Can you play 2 games for us?" He was my friend on Steam.
To be honest, I've been waiting since autumn for So Bad to vacate a spot in Spirit. I wanted to play with Maga and knew Ilyukha - it was nice to play with them on LAN. I wanted to play with them, although at that time they were still new players, but I knew them well"
According to Mira, he was unable to pass the testing for the team, unlike Magomed "Collapse" Khalilov, and this upset him. However,
Team Spirit manager contacted him and offered to play as a stand-in, after which Mira was already waiting for a full invitation to the main roster.
Recall that earlier Korb3n named the two main contenders for victory in The International 2025, and it is not
Team Spirit.
