Stanislav “Malr1ne” Potorak believes that shorter matches would not make professional Dota 2 more popular among viewers, but the availability of various entertainment formats could make the discipline more attractive to the audience.
The player shared this opinion on Twitch.
"No. That wouldn't help at all. What would give Dota a second wind and diversity? If I'm not mistaken, there are many other formats in CS. What are they called... Fan formats, like at the last BLAST, where 5x5 pro players played in other mixes. Like show matches, casts. If you bring that to Dota..."
According to Stanislav “Malr1ne” Potorak, Dota 2 is too serious an esports discipline, with virtually no room for entertainment. The esports player noted that the last time he played for fun was at BetBoom Dacha in a 1v1 format, which the organizers held during a full-fledged Dota 2 tournament. The player also noted that he considers Dota 2 to be a very difficult game, and that the presence of an entertaining format could attract new viewers.
"Dota is too serious a game. Too much. People play for serious money, there is no fun. The last time I played for fun was two years ago at BetBoom Dacha. There was a 1x1 tournament in the middle of a Dota event. It was a blast. We need to bring fun to Dota.
I'm not even talking about how difficult Dota is. Fun would attract new viewers."
Earlier, Stanislav “Malr1ne” Potorak threatened to ban Edgar “9Class” Naltakyan from Dota 2.
