Vladimir ‘Maelstorm’ Kuzminov holds the opinion that despite the number of tournaments held in dota 1 there are not many of them that really reach this level both in terms of the number of participants and the format of realization.
The well-known commentator shared his opinion with readers on his private channel on telegram.
“How much – how little Dash-1 tournament.
More and more tournaments are announced for 24-25 years and many of them are designated as TIR1, but I look at the table above and realize that there will be almost no TIR-1 tournaments.
I don’t know what is TIR-1 according to you, but for me it is mostly a lane event or rather a lot of people coming to watch games on a lane. For example, last TI or Riyadh, ESL Birmingham fits too.
The second point is participants’ composition. It’s not Birmingham here, it’s kind of PGL Wallachia done right, although unfortunately some teams & players didn’t make their way into it.“
Content maker also thinks that only two major tournaments worth waiting by community this year – The International and Riyadh Masters 2024. As for other championships they might be interesting for some viewers but definitely they won’t get as much attention as these two mentioned above. Commentator also mentions that due to hectic timetable teams will have to miss some events whose value is devalued by their sheer number. The last thing Caster wants to end up with is a situation where major dash-1 tournament starts just after another one has ended; exactly what happened with DreamLeague Season 23 starting one day after PGL Wallachia.
Commentator Yaroslav “NS” Kuznetsov once said there was an issue related to low intake of newbies into Dota 2 leading to gradual decrease in popularity among its fans.
