Maelstorm announced a generational change in the Dota 2 pro scene

Vladimir “Maelstorm” Kuzminov stated that even after more intense seasons in Dota 2 lineups, there were no such global changes as this year. The mass departure of professional players in inactivism caster attributes it to the change of generations on the professional scene.

Caster shared the corresponding opinion in his personal Telegram channel.

“I was thinking. What is the reason for the current mass inactives?

There were seasons in Dota and more intense, people played them from and through. I've been sitting and thinking about it, and I've come to the conclusion that it's time for a generational change in Dota. The last time I saw so much going inactive was just during the last shift, about 7 years ago.”

Caster also believes that if Dota 2 is still relevant, the players who have gone inactive will be quickly replaced by newcomers, after which it will be more difficult for them to resume their careers. Nevertheless, Vladimir “Maelstorm” Kuzminov believes that if cyber athletes who suspended their careers easily return from vacation and teams can't find decent replacements for them, such a situation will be a bad sign.

“We are now standing at an important juncture. If the discipline is still active, those who are leaving now - will be actively replaced by rookies. Not all, but by the time many of them return, it will be very difficult for them, and they will have many times less desire. If all the old guys come back and there is no replacement for them, it is a bad sign.”.

Earlier Vladimir “Maelstorm” Kuzminov reported that Team Spirit considered Ivan “Pure” Moskalenko as one of the main candidates to replace Ilya “Yatoro” Mulyarchuk.
